Gresik, July 16, 2026 – Demonstrating Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik’s commitment to strengthening international engagement beyond campus, Bilali Djamal, an international student from Comoros currently pursuing his studies at Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG), was invited as a special guest speaker during the MPLS Day 4 program at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Gresik (SD Muda Karisma).

The invitation provided an opportunity for elementary school students to interact directly with an international student and gain first-hand insights into global cultures and educational experiences. During the session, Bilal shared stories about his home country, Comoros, his academic journey at UMG, and the reasons that inspired him to continue his higher education in Indonesia. He also introduced aspects of his culture, daily life, and personal experiences as an international student living in Indonesia.
The session quickly turned into an engaging cultural exchange as students enthusiastically raised questions about Bilal’s life, his experiences studying at Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik, cultural differences between Comoros and Indonesia, as well as his hobbies and interests. The interactive discussion reflected the students’ curiosity and highlighted the importance of introducing global perspectives from an early age.

“I was delighted to receive the invitation from SD Muhammadiyah 2 Gresik. The students were incredibly enthusiastic and curious. They asked thoughtful questions about my country, my studies at UMG, and my experiences living in Indonesia. It was a meaningful opportunity to introduce my culture while also learning more about Indonesian students. I truly enjoyed every moment of the visit,” said Bilal.
Following the discussion session, Bilal joined the students in several interactive activities, including a friendly football game that created a warm and enjoyable atmosphere. The activities strengthened the connection between the international guest and the students, making the learning experience even more memorable.

This outreach activity reflects Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik’s ongoing commitment to internationalization by encouraging its international students to actively engage with local communities. Through meaningful interactions such as this, UMG continues to promote cultural understanding, global citizenship, and educational collaboration beyond the university environment.
