Learning experiences do not always take place inside the classroom. This time, two students from the English Education Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG), Felisia Sasmitha Rani and Fanny Nazurotul Rohmah, have been given the opportunity to join an international internship program in Loei Province, Thailand.

The departure on June 6, 2026, marked the beginning of a new journey for both students to learn, teach, and experience a different educational system and culture. Before leaving for Thailand, they were accompanied by the Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) of UMG, Paulina, S.Pd., M.Pd., and the Vice Rector I of UMG, Slamet Asari, S.Pd., M.Pd.

As part of the program, Fanny Nazurotul Rohmah has been assigned to Ban Jadsan School. During her internship, she will participate in various teaching and learning activities alongside teachers and students while gaining valuable experience in a different educational environment.

“I hope this program will provide meaningful learning experiences, both in education and cultural exchange. I also hope to adapt well and contribute positively during my internship in Thailand,” said Fanny.

Meanwhile, Felisia Sasmitha Rani has been assigned to Ban Phoem School. The internship offers her an opportunity to enhance her teaching skills, develop intercultural communication, and gain insights into educational practices in Thailand.

“I am very grateful to be part of this program. Besides improving my teaching experience, I hope to build new connections and learn many valuable lessons from a different educational environment,” Felisia shared.

The internship program also involves students from several Muhammadiyah universities across Indonesia, including Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palopo, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong Selatan, and other Muhammadiyah institutions. Bringing together students from different regions, the program creates opportunities for collaboration, cultural exchange, and international networking.

Through this program, Felisia and Fanny are not only representing UMG but also embracing the opportunity to learn from a new environment. The experience of living and teaching in Thailand is expected to enrich their academic journey and contribute to their future professional development as educators.
