The spirit of internationalization was once again highlighted by Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik through the Pre-Departure Orientation for the International Mobility Program 2026, held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The event marked a proud and meaningful moment for UMG students who are preparing to begin their international academic journey in Malaysia and Thailand.
The orientation was conducted in an enthusiastic and inspiring atmosphere, attended by students from various faculties and study programs. More than just a farewell ceremony, the event symbolized UMG’s strong commitment to preparing globally competitive students who are ready to collaborate, adapt, and grow in international environments.
The program was led directly by the Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) UMG, Paulina, S.Pd., M.Pd., who delivered guidance, motivation, and encouragement to all participants before their departure. In her speech, she emphasized that international programs are not merely about traveling abroad, but also about representing the values, quality, and identity of UMG on the global stage.
“This is not only about going overseas, but about how students can demonstrate the excellence, character, and spirit of UMG students to the world,” she stated during the orientation session.

A total of five selected students will participate in the Student Exchange Program in Malaysia. Meanwhile, several students will join international teaching internship programs in Thailand. Students assigned to Loei Province will conduct their internship activities at Ban Jadsan School and Ban Phoem School. In addition, participants placed in Yala Province will carry out their teaching practice at Lukmanul Hakeem School and Jipakee School.
During the pre-departure orientation, participants received various important briefings related to cultural adaptation, international communication, professional ethics, and mental preparation for living and working abroad. The event was filled with excitement, pride, and high expectations for all participants to become outstanding representatives of UMG in the international community.
This program also reflects Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik’s continuous effort to strengthen global partnerships and provide broader international opportunities for its students. Carrying the spirit of “From Local to Global,” UMG students are expected to return with valuable experiences, wider international networks, and new perspectives that will contribute positively to both their future careers and the university’s development.
From Gresik to the world, UMG students are ready to step forward, inspire others, and shine on the international stage.
