The efforts of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) to expand its international academic network were once again realized through an academic forum with a Malaysian university.
On January 14, UMG took part in an International Academic Focus Group Discussion (IA FGD) with Multimedia University (MMU) as part of strengthening inter-institutional academic collaboration.

The forum discussed several strategic agendas, including curriculum benchmarking, the development of teaching practices, and opportunities for collaborative research and community service (PKM). The discussion was conducted openly and focused on practical aspects that could be jointly developed within a long-term academic partnership.

The activity was attended by UMG’s academic leadership, including the Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) of UMG, Paulina, S.Pd., M.Pd., along with heads of study programs. Participants included the Head of the Accounting Study Program, Nyimas Wardatul Afiqoh, S.E., M.SA., Ak., CA., and the Head of the Engineering Study Program, Henny Dwi Bhakti, S.Si., M.Si., who actively contributed to the academic discussions.

On the occasion, the Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) of UMG emphasized that the forum served as an important space for direct academic communication. “Through discussions like this, we are able to address academic needs directly and identify realistic collaboration opportunities that can be implemented by both institutions,” she stated.

A representative of the study programs also highlighted the benefits of the forum. “This discussion provided valuable insights, particularly in relation to teaching development as well as opportunities for research and community service collaboration,” one of the program heads noted.

As a concrete outcome, the agenda was marked by the signing and exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UMG and Multimedia University. The meeting concluded with a souvenir exchange, symbolizing partnership and mutual commitment to future international academic collaboration.
