A lively cross-border discussion took place when Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) met with Universiti Kuala Lumpur – Institute of Accountancy (UniKL IA)on 13 January 2026. The meeting served as a platform for exchanging ideas and marked an important step toward strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The agenda began with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Curriculum Benchmarkingbetween the Accounting study programs. During this session, both parties shared perspectives on curriculum development, teaching approaches, and efforts to align learning outcomes with global and industry needs. The discussion was open and dynamic, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration.
The session continued with an FGD on Teaching, focusing on classroom practices and innovative teaching methods. The Head of the Accounting Study Program at UMG, Nyimas Wardatul Afiqoh, S.E., M.SA., Ak., CA., emphasized the value of international collaboration in improving educational quality. “International collaboration like this provides a shared learning space, not only for the study program but also for lecturers to enhance the quality of teaching,” she stated.
The discussion then moved to the FGD on Research and Community Service Collaboration, exploring potential academic cooperation in research and community engagement between the two institutions. This session became an important part of expanding academic networks and fostering meaningful cross-country collaboration.
The Head of UMG’s International Relations Office, Paulina, S.Pd., M.Pd., also shared her perspective on the agenda. “We see this collaboration as a strategic step toward building long-term academic partnerships that mutually strengthen both institutions,” she remarked.
The series of activities concluded with a souvenir exchange as a symbol of goodwill, followed by the preparation of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) documents as a formal foundation for future academic cooperation between UMG and UniKL IA.
