Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) has once again made a proud achievement on the international stage. At the annual Passage to ASEAN (P2A) Awards 2025 held at the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) Yogyakarta, UMG successfully earned the prestigious “Exemplary P2A Coordinator” award, one of the six award categories presented to P2A member institutions across Southeast Asia.
This achievement marks a historic milestone for UMG, as it is the first time the university has brought home an international award in its three years of participation in the P2A network. Among hundreds of higher education institutions within the P2A Network, UMG stood out as the only university to receive this recognition in 2025.
P2A is an international consortium focused on enhancing student mobility, strengthening collaborative research, and promoting cultural exchange within the ASEAN region. UMG was recognized as one of the institutions that successfully demonstrated excellent coordination in advancing internationalization and expanding global learning opportunities for its students.
A key figure behind this accomplishment is Paulina, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) of UMG, who has been actively leading various P2A programs and fostering strategic partnerships with universities across the ASEAN region. “This award is not only for UMG, but also for the entire academic community who has supported our internationalization efforts. Throughout our three years of joining P2A, we have worked hard to develop relevant programs and provide global exposure for our students. This recognition motivates us to continue growing and strengthening UMG’s position in the international network,” she stated.
She also emphasized that UMG will continue enhancing its global collaboration through program innovation, capacity-building for students in international competitions, and expanding strategic partnerships within ASEAN.
UMG’s success at the P2A Awards 2025 affirms that the university is on the right path toward achieving high-quality, globally competitive education. This accomplishment further encourages UMG to remain an active and progressive part of the international higher education community.
