Gresik, Monday, 10 November 2025 — The Public Health Department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik celebrated an important milestone with the arrival of its first international student from Sudan. This moment marks a new chapter for the department as it moves toward a more global, diverse, and collaborative learning environment.

The welcoming ceremony was held in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The event was attended by: Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik Dr. Wiwik Widyawati, S.Kep., Ns., MM., M.Kes, Head of the Public Health Study Program Zufra Inayah, S.KM., M.Kes, Lecturers of the Public Health Department, Representatives from the International Relations Office (IRO), Public Health students

During her remarks, Dr. Wiwik Widyawati expressed her appreciation for this milestone. “Welcoming our first international student is a proud moment for us. It shows that Public Health UMG is ready to step onto the global stage, and we are committed to supporting our international students in every aspect of their academic journey,” she said.

Following that, Zufra Inayah, S.KM., M.Kes, emphasized the value of this new chapter. “This is more than just receiving a student. It is the beginning of cultural exchange, academic collaboration, and a richer learning experience for everyone in our program,” she stated.

During the event, the student from Sudan was welcomed directly by program staff, given a campus tour, introduced to academic and student services, and connected with fellow Public Health students. The atmosphere was friendly, warm, and filled with positive curiosity from the students who attended. This moment becomes a symbol of Public Health UMG’s readiness to grow globally by fostering a multicultural and collaborative learning environment. The department hopes that this will be the beginning of welcoming more international students from various countries in the years ahead.
