Gresik, “Alhamdulillah, thanks be to Allah SWT who has granted all our endeavors” the thanksgiving was heard for the first time when the Chancellor of Muhammadiyah Gresik University (UMG) learned the good news, that UMG was ranked 9th and included in the top 10 of Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah College throughout Indonesia. The beginning of 2023, in January to be precise, is a happy and proud start for UMG. As reported by the PTMA Diktilitbang social media, UMG is side by side with other PTMAs which have already been ranked in the top 10 in Indonesia.
Among the top 10 PTMA ranks are Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University, Malang Muhammadiyah University, Ahmad Dahlan University, Surakarta Muhammadiyah University, Prof. Muhammadiyah University. Dr. Hamka, Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra, Semarang Muhammadiyah University, PurworejoMuhammadiyah University, Gresik Muhammadiyah University, Sidoarjo Muhammadiyah University.
Not only that, UMG’s skyrocketing is also a sign that UMG is ranked 2nd best PTMA in East Java after Muhammadiyah University Malang. This is a very proud and encouraging achievement for the entire UMG academic community.
The Chancellor of Muhammadiyah Gresik University, NadhirotulLaily, S. Psi, M. Psi, Psychologist, when confirmed regarding the extraordinary achievements of UMG, expressed his gratitude to all academics who could work together to improve the name of UMG in other Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah Universities. Looking back, UMG in 2022 is still far from being ranked in the top 25, but in early 2023 it was ranked 9th in Indonesia and this exceeded the target that had been set.
“This achievement is very encouraging because it not only managed to achieve the target but even exceeded the target we were trying to achieve. In 2022 the ranking of UniversitasMuhammadiyah Gresik is still far from the National level in the PTMA category, but this year we have risen to 9th place at the National level. This is an extraordinary leap, and we are very grateful for that, “he said.
The success of UMG cannot be separated from the cooperation and synergy of all elements at Muhammadiyah Gresik University. This cannot be separated from the term webometrics ranking, which is a web ranking of universities in the world. Supporting Open Access initiatives, electronic access to scientific publications and other academic materials are the main targets of webometrics itself.
However, web indicators are very useful for ranking purposes too as they are based not on the number of visits or page design but also on the university’s performance and global visibility.
“This also requires the wisdom and willingness of all elements of the university such as lecturers, staff and students to want to make scientific works and upload them in electronic publications on the university’s website. So that each of them must be responsible for the content they publish, “he said
With a radiant face, he expressed his appreciation to the entire Muhammadiyah University of Gresik community for synergizing for this success. “We also express our highest gratitude to the Muhammadiyah Association which always supports and guides us for the sake of an increasingly progressive UMG” he explained
The lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology also expressed his gratitude to the people of Gresik who have entrusted the education of their sons and daughters to Muhammadiyah Gresik University.
“Hopefully this achievement will be our motivation to always improve the quality of PT tridharma and the competitiveness of Muhammadiyah Gresik University at the national and international levels. People increasingly believe that Muhammadiyah Gresik University is the right choice to pursue education, especially at Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah College,” he concluded
