Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) is welcoming dozens of international students as part of the 2026/2027 Academic Year, bringing new faces, perspectives and cultural experiences into the university community. Their arrival marks another step in UMG’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international academic environment and create a campus where students from different backgrounds can learn and grow together.
The international students come from diverse backgrounds and have joined a range of study programs at UMG. Their presence adds a broader dimension to campus life, where academic discussions and everyday interactions are no longer shaped only by local perspectives but also by experiences from different parts of the world.
Among the international students joining UMG are Asma Yeesalaeh, who is studying Islamic Education; Inatova Dilorom, who has joined the Psychology Program; and Makhmadaminova Ezoza, who is studying Entrepreneurship.
Other international students include Koyeemah Chema in the Early Childhood Education Program, Hor Leanghour in the Pharmacy Program, Lath Marita in the English Education Program, and Bou Sreynan in the Nursing Program. Meanwhile, Mohammad Sulaiman Rahimi has joined the Management Program, while Mansoor Stanikzai is studying Informatics Engineering.
The growing presence of international students reflects the increasingly diverse academic community at UMG. With students from different countries studying across various disciplines, the university provides a space where cultural exchange can take place naturally through classrooms, campus activities, and everyday interactions.
For UMG, welcoming international students is about more than providing access to academic programs. It is also about creating opportunities for students to experience international perspectives without having to leave the campus.
Through interaction with international peers, Indonesian students can gain firsthand exposure to different cultures, communication styles, educational experiences, and ways of seeing the world. At the same time, international students have the opportunity to experience Indonesia more closely through their academic journey and daily life at UMG.
Classrooms become more than spaces for academic learning. They become meeting points where students with different backgrounds can exchange ideas, share experiences, and learn from one another. The presence of international students makes global interaction a shared experience rather than something limited to outbound mobility programs.
The arrival of dozens of international students in the 2026/2027 Academic Year also adds momentum to UMG’s broader international engagement. Through academic collaboration, student mobility, international programs, and partnerships with institutions abroad, UMG continues to create opportunities for its academic community to connect across borders.
For the students arriving from abroad, UMG becomes a place to pursue their academic goals while experiencing a new cultural and social environment. For Indonesian students, their presence offers opportunities to build friendships, exchange perspectives, and develop connections that extend beyond national and cultural boundaries.
As the new academic year begins, these international students become part of a growing community at UMG bringing their own stories and perspectives while becoming part of the university’s story as well. The 2026/2027 Academic Year marks a new chapter for UMG: a chapter shaped not only by new academic journeys, but also by a campus community that is becoming increasingly diverse, connected, and global.
