On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Auditorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik marked a significant milestone in strengthening the international mobility of students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). A total of 265 students from the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD), English Education (PBI), and Mathematics Education (PMTK) programs participated in the Socialization Session for the International School Field Introduction Program (PLP) and International Education Community Service (KKN), with Malaysia as the destination country.
The session featured Shohenuddin, M.Ed., Staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Kuala Lumpur, as the keynote speaker. He delivered a comprehensive overview of opportunities for UMG students to engage within Indonesia’s overseas education system, particularly at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur. His presentation covered the role of Indonesian schools under the coordination of KBRI, student placement mechanisms, and the broader significance of contributing to Indonesia’s educational diplomacy abroad.
During the discussion session, Shohenuddin emphasized that participation in the International PLP and KKN program goes beyond teaching practice. Students represent Indonesia’s academic identity and national values within an international educational environment. The session was met with enthusiastic engagement, as participants actively raised questions regarding eligibility requirements, academic preparedness, and selection procedures.
The event was also attended by UMG academic leaders, including Prof. Yudhi Arifani, M.Pd., Director of DPPM; Dr. Nur Fauziyah, M.Pd., Dean of FKIP; and Heads of Study Programs: Iqnatia Alfiansyah, M.Pd. (PGSD), Ismail Marzuki, M.Pd. (PPG), Tri Yuli Ardiansyah, M.Pd. (PBI), and Dr. Fatimatul Khikmiyah, M.Sc. (PMTK). Their presence reaffirmed that international engagement is institutionally embedded within FKIP’s academic development framework.
From the perspective of the International Relations Office (IRO), the collaboration with KBRI Kuala Lumpur represents a strategic step in expanding regional networks and strengthening outbound student mobility pathways. The program offers cross-border professional experience while reinforcing UMG’s position within Indonesia’s overseas education ecosystem.
Through the International PLP and Education KKN programs, FKIP students gain concrete opportunities to enhance pedagogical competence in multicultural settings and build academic experiences aligned with the evolving dynamics of global education.
