The international atmosphere was palpable as the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) hosted the 2026 International Seminar titled “Intelligent and Sustainable Engineering Systems: Academic Perspectives and Application” at Hall Sang Pencerah. This event was far more than a standard seminar it served as a strategic platform bringing together academics from Indonesia and Malaysia to discuss cutting-edge, sustainable engineering innovations.
The seminar featured Prof. Dr. Deshinta Arrova Dewi from INTI International University & Colleges Malaysia as the keynote speaker, alongside Dr. Zainal Mustakim, S.T., M.Eng. from UMG’s Faculty of Engineering. Both scholars highlighted the critical importance of implementing smart, sustainable technologies to address the challenges of modern engineering.
The event was officially opened by Rector Prof. Dr. Khoirul Anwar, S.Pd., M.Pd., who emphasized, “Internationalization and global collaboration are key to positioning UMG’s Faculty of Engineering alongside leading universities worldwide. Modern engineering challenges demand cross-border synergy to ensure innovations have real impact for society.”
The seminar also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between UMG’s Faculty of Engineering and INTI International University & Colleges Malaysia, paving the way for joint research, academic exchanges, and capacity building for both faculty and students.
The MoA signing was witnessed by university leadership, including Vice Rector I Dr. Slamet Asari, S.Pd., M.Pd., Vice Rector III Harunur Rosyid, S.T., M.Kom., Ph.D., and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Indra Gita Anugrah, S.Kom., M.Kom. Their presence reinforced that this international collaboration is more than a ceremonial gesture—it is a strategic step forward for UMG’s development.
With this initiative, the Faculty of Engineering at UMG affirms its commitment to continuously adapt to global dynamics and strengthen its role in international discourse, particularly in the field of intelligent and sustainable engineering.
