From Gresik to Malaysia, Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) continues to expand its international academic network. On 5 February 2026, UMG, through its International Relations Office (IRO), officially established an academic collaboration with INTI International University, with academic involvement from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) focusing on teaching and research.
This collaboration brings together the Faculty of Data Science and Information Technology of INTI International University and the Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik. The partnership is designed not merely as a symbolic agreement, but as a strategic initiative aimed at long-term academic development and sustainable cross-border cooperation.
The MoA signing was attended by Vice Rector I of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik, Dr. Slamet Asari, S.Pd., M.Pd., demonstrating strong institutional support for UMG’s internationalization efforts. Also present was the Director of DPPM Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik, Prof. Dr. Yudhi Arifani, S.Pd., M.Pd., along with the university’s academic leadership.
Head of the International Relations Office (IRO) of UMG, Paulina, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that the collaboration is part of UMG’s strategic efforts to strengthen its global network and enhance academic quality through sustainable international partnerships. “IRO plays an active role in bridging communication, aligning institutional needs, and ensuring that collaborations move beyond ceremonial agreements,” she explained.
She emphasized that the partnership with INTI International University, alongside the academic involvement of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, opens significant opportunities for joint research and academic exchange in the future. “This collaboration creates broad opportunities for UMG lecturers and students to participate in academic activities at the international level,” she added.
In this collaboration, INTI International University was represented by Prof. Dr. Deshinta Arrova Dewi, while Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia was represented by Dr. Tri Basuki Kurniawan, reflecting strong academic engagement across institutions and national boundaries.
From the partner institution’s perspective, INTI International University welcomed the collaboration as a strategic step toward strengthening regional academic relations. INTI’s representatives viewed UMG as a promising partner in developing research and learning approaches that respond to global challenges. “This collaboration is expected to foster mutually beneficial academic partnerships that remain relevant to the current demands of higher education,” an INTI representative stated.
Through this collaboration, UMG, INTI International University, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia agreed to develop various joint programs, including collaborative research, faculty capacity building, and internationally oriented academic activities, reinforcing UMG’s commitment to global academic engagement.
