
Kuala Lumpur, September 8, 2025 — Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UM Gresik) has strengthened its international presence by partnering with Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia’s number one university. On Monday, September 8, 2025, a Benchmarking and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held at UM’s campus in Kuala Lumpur as the initial step toward strategic collaboration in education, research, and community service.
The UM Gresik delegation was led by Vice Rector II, Dr. Tumirin, S.E., M.Si., and accompanied by the Head of the International Relations Office (IRO), Paulina, S.Pd., M.Pd. They were warmly received by Dr. Elsa Haniffah Mejia Mohamed, Director of the Centre for Design and Quality Enhancement at Universiti Malaya. The meeting was lively, featuring academic discussions that emphasized both parties’ commitment to strengthening global networks. During the forum, UM Gresik proposed several strategic initiatives, including student and staff exchanges, internationally oriented research collaborations targeting reputable publications, and cross-border community service programs. These proposals were positively received by Universiti Malaya, which recognized the potential for further cooperation.
