In an effort to strengthen international networks and enhance academic quality, Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Academic Exchange and Academic Cooperation with National Taipei University (NTPU) on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, at the UMG Meeting Room. The meeting was attended by UMG Rector Prof. Dr. Khoirul Anwar, S.Pd, M.Pd; Vice Rector Dr. Slamat Asari, S.Pd, M.Pd; Dean of the Faculty of Health Dr. Wiwik Widiyawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.M., M.Kes.; Head of the International Relations Office Paulina, S.Pd, M.Pd; six Heads of Study Programs within the Faculty of Health; and the NTPU delegation, namely Yankuba B. Manga, PhD, and Dr. Muhammad Adeel.

The event opened with a speech from the NTPU representative, followed by remarks from the UMG Rector. Prof. Dr. Khoirul Anwar stated, “We highly appreciate this opportunity to strengthen academic cooperation with National Taipei University. This meeting is expected to serve as a foundation for the development of our faculty and students, as well as to expand opportunities for international knowledge exchange.”

The signing of the MoU and MoA marked the highlight of the event, which was followed by a group photo session. Both universities then shared general information about their academic programs, faculties, and opportunities for international collaboration, fostering a mutual understanding of potential areas of cooperation. The discussion was interactive, covering student and faculty exchanges, joint research, publications, and the organization of international seminars and workshops. The event concluded with a preliminary agreement to follow up the collaboration through formal agreements, marking the beginning of a closer and sustainable partnership between UMG and NTPU. This activity represents an important milestone for both universities in expanding their international networks, enhancing academic quality, and providing broader opportunities for student and faculty development.
