Gresik – On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Nursing and Professional Nurse Study Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik held a seminar titled “Career Opportunities for Nurses Abroad” at Auditorium Campus 2. The event was enthusiastically attended by nursing students eager to gain insights into cross-border career prospects.

Serving as the speaker, Nur Hidayati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., delivered a comprehensive presentation on the opportunities and challenges of becoming a professional nurse overseas. In her presentation, she explained that the global demand for nursing professionals continues to grow, especially in countries such as Japan, those in the Middle East, and several European nations. In addition to outlining the processes and requirements that need to be prepared, Nur Hidayati also highlighted several benefits that can be gained by working as a nurse abroad. Among them are higher salary standards compared to domestic positions, a professional working environment, and the opportunity to receive recognition for excellent performance. “Some hospitals give special appreciation to nurses who are well-liked by patients, such as bonuses, certificates, or long-term work contracts,” she explained.

This event served as a space for discussion that broadened students’ perspectives on the reality of international nursing careers. Participants were also given the opportunity to ask direct questions regarding technical aspects such as cultural adaptation, language challenges, and work systems or operational hours in destination countries. Through this activity, the Nursing and Professional Nurse Study Program of UMG hopes to foster a global spirit among students and encourage them to prepare early to face international job market competition. This seminar represents a concrete form of the university’s support for developing students’ careers at the global level.
