Japan's Visits at the Nursing Department 2020

6th February 2020 was an important date, especially for the nursing students of university of Muhammadiyah Gresik since they were visited by 6 Japanese guests. The guests were picked up by IRO staffs and brought to Gresik directly to the first campus on JL. Sumatra GKB. The guests were invited to the meeting room on the 7th floor with some selected students of nursing department who had been enthusiastically ready to welcome the guests.

This event was including discussion, campus visit, as well as sightseeing. The discussion was opened by the vice rector of University of Muhammadiyah Gresik, Dr. Khoirul Anwar, S.Pd., M.Pd. He encouraged the students to keep pursuing their dreams and never giving up easily. In addition, mr. Anwar gave a brief explanation about the university to the guests since it was the first time they come to Gresik.

The first event was a discussion with the nursing students who wished to work in Japan. The Japanese guests were coming from different companies related to nursing field. There were Inoue Tatsuoki from Oasis care (representative), Eiji Sunahara as the CEO of A A I, Taki Hideo from Clair, Akiyama Ken as the CEO of Kenai Kai, Iwashita Makoto as the CEO of FMI, Midori Tagawa as the CEO of Glovalm and Tsuji Nobuaki as the representative of Exceed. The discussion was also conducted by Miss Paulina as the head of IRO UMG and was helped by Mr. Adi Suhardi from All life service to make the discussion ran smoothly in both Indonesian and Japan. During the discussion, both of the guests and students were actively asked the questions regarding the nursing job and requirements to work there, what to do after they got there, etc. Therefore, the guests explained that in Japan, nursing field is more emphasized in caring elderly people, especially those who are struggling with Alzheimer in nursing home. It is the responsibility of the nurse to pay more attention to them since elderly people need extra treatments. Furthermore, they stated that working in Japan is almost the same as in Indonesia in term of duration. The workers will have different shifts in working and will also do the regular job as in Indonesia. In addition, despite of gaining money, the final aim of working in Japan is to find out and learn the nursing system in Japan. So, the students who has been back to Indonesia can apply this method to make an improvement in their country.

In the end of the discussion, the guests were taken to walk around the campus. The host took them in many places such as library, classroom, canteen, and showed the club and community inside the university, one of them was music community called LIMMA MUSIK. The guests were thrilled to be welcomed in university of Muhammadiyah Gresik.

The last agenda was visiting nursing department of University of Muhammadiyah Gresik which is located in the 2nd campus on JL. Proklamasi. The 2nd campus was the place for health faculty including Nursing department, public health department, pharmacy department, Nutritional science department, Physiotherapy department. The Nursing students welcomed the Japanese guests warmly and they showed them the classroom and laboratory. Some students also demonstrated the personal hygiene about cleaning the patient.

For the farewell agenda, was taking picture together. There will be further follow up between the nursing department and Japanese guest regarding the project.
